LET’S CAMP OUT

The Camp Out is on for tomorrow (Friday, July 30th)! Matt Barnes, Carter and Cheryl Diebold walked the field and amazingly have determined it is dry enough to camp. The pitch-in dinner starts at 6:30pm so bring your side or desert to the pavilion. We’ll have s’mores at the campfire at dusk. Swim until 10pm. Bathrooms open all night. Pitch your tent anytime on Friday. See you there.

Camp out info

The Camp out is scheduled for this coming Friday, July 30th. I just went to the 10 day forecast for Indy and it’s calling for isolated or scattered storms from tuesday thru the weekend. But, hey! Things could change. So, let’s keep an eye on the forecast and a little closer to friday we’ll make the call to cancel and go for a rain date, or to take our chances like we did last year! Remember, we will also be looking at how wet the field is, so even if it doesn’t call for rain on friday night, the field may be too soaked to pitch our tents.We have 4 fridays left in August so rest assured, we WILL have our S’mores!! We’ll see what happens. The pitch-in is on friday July 30th too, so plan on that.

Guard Appreciation

Our Devon summer is in full swing and we couldn’t enjoy our club without our dedicated Lifeguards. They work hard to keep our club a safe and fun place for our familes to relax and make new friends. Starting this Saturday, through August 1st, we can show them our appreciation by saying thank you and/or giving them a small token of our appreciation. I’ve never known a guard to turn down a meal or a new toy.

Year End Tennis Tournament

The sign-up sheets are now posted down by the courts for the Year End Tennis Tournament. Please sign-up by July 31st. We will post the first round matches by Aug. 2nd. We ask that you have all rounds completed before Labor Day weekend. Also we ask that you be available to play in the finals Labor Day weekend. Junior Team Tennis Reminder

Attention Junior Tennis Players and Parents!!!!!

This is a reminder of our Junior tennis program.

10 and under will have lessons on Mon, Weds, Fri from 10:45-11:45am(right after swim team practice)

All age Juniors will have lessons Mon, Weds,Fri from 10-11am.

Junior Team Practice is on Mondays from 12-1pm.

Team Tennis Matches are TBA (but usually take place on Tues/Thurs around 11,12 or 1pm at various locations.

$100 Off!

Did you know that this year a new member can join Devon and get the $100 initiation fee waived if they were a member of another Indianapolis-area swim club or a neighborhood pool group, or are a recently returning veteran? We think that’s a great incentive to become part of the Devon family. And we hope you take the time over the next few weeks to think of some friends and neighbors who would make good Devon members (even if they don’t qualify for the $100 discount).

Although the club membership committee always does its best to ‘market’ Devon by holding open houses, participating in silent auctions, and other more direct advertising methods, the reality is the vast majority of our members come through referrals from current members. And we always loose some members every year due to job transfers, home relocations, and other lifestyle changes.

So, please help if you can by spreading the good word about what a great value and fun place Devon is to spend your summer. If you’re not comfortable directly recruiting a prospective member, please suggest that they visit our website, where they can see lots of great photos and download brochures and membership forms, or, have them contact board members Mark Trausch at 317-283-5173 or Marc Diebold at 317-598-9598 for more information. 2010 Membership Renewal

Dear Devon Members,

Although winter is definitely here, the Devon Board is already making plans for another awesome summer. The Membership Forms for the 2010 season will be sent soon. The membership fees cover not only operating expenses during the summer, but year-round expenses (insurance, utilities, etc.) as well. We are currently working on painting the pool, fixing some leaking issues, and minor maintenance. Some of these projects can be worked on by member volunteers, but some need professionals. This is why it is so important to receive the membership dues this spring. Thank you to all the members who have already paid 2010 dues.

The membership dues for 2010 will remain the same as 2009. The dues are: Family $575, Couples $435, and Singles $285, Tennis-Couple $230, Tennis-Single $145.Current membership fees are due April 1, 2010. All current membership fees received before March 15, 2010, will receive a 5 guest pass card ($25 value). All current membership fees received after April 15, 2010, will be charged a $20 late fee.

Some members have expressed interest in a multi-year membership. The Board has put together a 5-year membership. This membership will be $2300 for families. This is 4 years membership with the 5th free. This membership guarantees one free year, no possibility of increase in membership dues, no responsibility for assessment payments, and 10 free guest passes per year. This offer is only available to full membership (Families, Couples, and Singles). This option will be available until May15, 2010. If you have already paid for 2010, or have any questions regarding this offer, please contact myself or Kristie Cheek, Treasurer.

The Board and I want to personally thank you all the members and staff who make Devon the best place to spend the summer.
